Dear Parents,
Welcome to another school year! I am excited to get to know each and every one of my students this year. I can tell that this is going to be a great class! Instead of e-mailing a letter home to you each Monday I will just be updating my website for you to check out whenever is convienent for you. This website will allow you to see upcoming events as well as homework that the kids will have each week.
Students will have reading logs that they will have to fill out and return each Friday. In order for your student to receive full points the paper needs to be filled out and signed by the parent or guardian.
Students will have spelling pre-tests each Monday with a final test on Friday. Students will bring home thier words every Monday and they will also be required to do spelling homework each night. The curriculum that we are using for reading will have some tough words, so they will want to make sure to study each night.
I will also be sending home a reading sheet each week that your child will need to read with you each night. Come Friday your child will be given a fluency test on the material that they read at home with you. If you can try to time your child for a minute each night and see if they can go a little bit further with each reading.
